    Hi

I have a tube chassis 67 camaro, which we have been running with a blown bbc. The bbc has since "expired" and we are currently fitting a TFX hemi in the car. The class i run in requires self starting capability. So the typical aircraft style starter won't work. I have seen the front crank mounted version, but that is not really an option either due to limited space. I have heard about people mounting a starter to the mid plate and starting the engine of the flexplate. I'm having a hard time finding any useful information in that regard. and I would really like to see some pictures of it.
Also which starter should i be buying for this and which battery will spin the engine fast enough for the 44 PRO MAG? currently the car has a yellow top optima, which worked perfect for the bbc with a supermag III.

    Thanks

    Sune

We use a 24v platinum csr starter and flexplate. Snyder sells them. Tim Mcamis has an adapter that allows the stater to mount to midplate. we also run a tfx. I notched the oil pan so the pan can be removed without touching the starter.

    Sune....
i mounted ours to the midplate, and can give you instructions on doing so if you like. we run a TFX in our car and the chassis is pretty narrow, but we made it work. here is a link to a few pics. right now i have the clutch out, so i can take more pics if you need. it's pretty easy to do without buying anything. please let me know if i can help.

Thank you for the information and pictures.

I think can make that work fairly easy in my car.

I assume i'll have to get another battery and hit the srater with 24 volts. to spin it fast enough.
Do you guys have any good input in regard to batteries? Will 2 of those small lightweight motorcycle batteries do the trick? I am asking because my car is overweight as it is already.

    Batteries

We use two Odyssey PC545 to our blown KB olds, MAG 44. Only thing is that you need the propper charger (Puls charging) www.centry.se has a goodone 24v.
