All, my old combo was a R.E.D with a blown alky BBC psi 206D blower, power glide/ 1.80 first gear, rear gear is a 4.30. 34.5,17,16 slicks at 5.25 psi, I would leave on a 2 step with a 3000 chip, and the car would always leave likt a rocket .932 to .945 60 foots on almost every pass, i added a 6 shooter to soften up the 60 foot and it worked very well base timing is 30 degrees.
Last winter I back halfed the car and made it about 14 inches longer to fit a bruno/lenco 3 speed with a 1.63 first gear, the car now will only pull about a 1.05 60 foot, and my reaction times are pretty bad, were before a bad light was a .030, now I will be lucky to get a .095. To make the car 60 foot better I have disabled the 6 shooter, also played with the tire psi a little and not much has helped

my question is if i bring up the launch rpm will it help the car to react faster to the release on the trans brake? thanks again for all of the help !!!!!

It might be the added weight of the Bruno/Lenco. If the shaft speed is to low, you could add some timing.

You're going to need more launch RPM to pull low gear the same, I'd recommend around 4500. You're coming from a 7.74 final drive ratio to a 7.00, that's quite a change. As far as tire psi, I'd go with 5.5 or so.....it's always a safe place. The lower tire psi the easier it can generate wheelspeed...so 5.25 isn't a bad number either. The launch RPM will solve shaft speed down low as well as reaction times. I'd leave timing base alone, you know the car runs...it just needs a kick in the ass from 0-60'. You have my email, if ya need anything just shout. When you say on a two step, are you leaving at a wide open throttle or is the two step governing an air solenoid?

yes, I have a throttle control unit and the 2 step, so when i am at stage rpm the throttle is open about .120 and my low gear lean out popet is set to open as soon as it see's 2 to 3 pounds more fuel pressure at the hit.

    thanks again for all help!!!!!!
