    Tad/Ta/FC demise

NHRA's lack of comittment to the class,I ran div 4 for 4 yrs,700 to qualify,3 crew & driver in free. Now years later, same payout, you have to pay for your crew, the cost to run this "pro-sportsman " class is insane, the tracks really don't want you because they are back gate finacing these races and Tad/Tafc don't pay for themselves.the tracks have not spent any dollars in the past to get the fans in the gate,so here we are.all of this has been talked about many times before! I sold out in 2006- glad I got out then! I love the class, but would have to be insane to get back in it now! and all these rules nhra puts on these cars every year with no consideration of the cost or time it takes to upgrade to new requirements is crazy!!!!!!!!!

    sky is falling

Before we start crying about how the sky is falling, let's look at car counts across the board.

We are in the middle of one of the worst economic crisis' we've seen in year. If you look across the board from Top Fuel to Super Street to No Box at the local track to your Friday Night Street night, car counts are down. I would be willing to bet car counts are down fairly proportional to the other classes.

It's not the class, rules, NHRA or anything else, the root of the problem is the economy.

We as alcohol racers have had a SOLID place to race our hot rods for 30 years now. No worrying about coming up with a class sponsor. NHRA pays out $33,500 per class at national events. Do the math. We don't have it that bad when you compare it to any other class in drag racing.

Could it be better? You're damn right it could be better. We need to always work to have it better. Just look across the row at Pro Mod. Not that I think it's likely anytime soon, but if Burgess wakes up one day and decides he's 'over it' NHRA Pro Mod will need another person/company to bankroll the class. Same with ADRL. IHRA AFC is gone. ADRL has really raised the bar down to the local Outlaw Pro Mod levels. The price of poker is going up in Nostalgia FC.

Back to the original topic. We've seen this cycle before, about 10 years ago. Wasn't quite as bad, but car counts really suffered after the internet bubble busted. They got pretty robust from 05-08. If the economy doesn't improve, car counts, payouts and the like will really be a moot point...

Will, check out how many N/FC's showed up to vegas this weekend and it pays next to nothing. It is much more than a down economy.

Time to let the "B" cars in to make up the rest of the field. As long as the "B" car is blown and injected and can run a 6 why not let them in? I have a "B" car and I'd be more than happy to get my ass kicked in Top Alcohol Dragster than to race in Top Dragster. The NHRA needs to relax some of the rules. There are a lot of blown alcohol cars just sitting that could be out there. The only alternative they have is the Pro Comp shows and they are few and far between but thank goodness that alternative is out there. In fact, maybe NHRA just needs to bring back Pro Comp so when there are short fields in top alcohol there would still be another blown alcohol class to run behind the top alcohol class and fill the void. Bottom line: NHRA needs to get creative re-evaluate what they are doing at the division level. It use to be the division events were a big deal and now they aren't much different than a national open.

two qualifying shots for 14 cars is a crap shoot.

So far the northeast don't seem to be hurting so bad. Now if we only had THREE qualifying sessions like all the other divisions, I don't get why they had three sessions for 5 cars this weekend out west. And two for us. A failed points box on our second pass 1.2 seconds into our run sent us packing.

Absolutely Steve. It wouldn't be fair to those racers that already bought those $8,000 dollar carbon brakes. One other thing, if you allowed the "B" cars in what that's going to do is not only fill the fields where they are short cars like at Mission this past weekend, but it will also encourage and motivate the guys that have "B" cars now to step up their program. Right now they have no reason to do so. But if you allowed them in, some of these guys in time will invest in their program and then next thing you know the class is healthy again as more of the B cars become A cars. NHRA needs to do something to save the class and that would be the best way to do it.

Topeka was screwed when the schedule was released. 2 Divisionals the same weekend. Bad plan.

Oh, and the following weekend has 4 divisionals scheduled across the country so the travel and back to back weekends really take a toll on Alcohol teams.

No "B" Cars. There's enough down time caused by the "A" Cars. (Your words not mine)

We need to quit being spread so thin because of the outdated Divisional series that the alky class doesn't fit into anymore.

    Just a reminder:
