    Hi guys.

I apologise if my question is something thats been covered previously, but i've been out of the loop with valvetrain companies recently.

We want to get a new set of Crane lifters for our motor (blown alcohol hemi), and they do stock the size we require on www.cranecams.com. Am I right in saying that Crane went out of business for a short time, and with that, possibly another company bought them out and started making new parts again?

My question and concern is has anyone bought Crane ultra pro roller lifters since they re-started production? And are they as good as they used to be?

We've tried different make lifters in our motor before and only ever found Crane to be reliable, and don't want to change because we know they have worked great in the past.

    Many thanks
    Joe

Crane Lifters reliable compared to what? When Crane was the only blown alky/TAD lifter show in town everybody ran them, and lots of failures followed. Then Jesel stepped in, made a bulletproof lifter and raped you in the pricing department. I suppose it was the logic of "if you don't want to break shit, pay up". Now you also have Morel at a fraction of the Jesel's and in my mind they're just as good. I don't know of one TAD/TAFC/PM that runs Crane anymore. If you have too much cash laying around, go with Jesel, if not get a set of Morels.

And now, a reply from my slanted perspective. The new Crane roller lifters are being produced on new CNC machining centers, right here in the USA. The tolerances are being held more accurately, and surface finishes are improved. The guidebars are now heat treated steel alloy, and the bearing assemblies have been upgraded. Selling prices have not increased. We are supplying these to most engine builders and racers worldwide, with sales and customer feedback being quite good. Regards, Chase

My last two sets have been Crane Ultra-Pro lifters. Zero issues and I'll continue to use them (Big Chief BBC at 40 psi).
