I have been running a power glide for years and I have back halfed my dragster and installed a bruno and a 3 speed CS-2 lenco Trans , 500 inch BBC and a 206D, I was wondering should i have a rear trans support ? say across the lower frame rail on saddles and bolted to the reverser?

Would not having one make the car more prone to tire shake?

    any input would be appreciated

    Thanks again

    trans support

I don't know of anyone who supports the rear of either Lencos or B&Js. One of the problems I can imagine is that the chassis flexes and if the trans is tied solidly to it then you could end up breaking the case of the trans. It is like when you use clamps on your splined driveshafts you leave 3/16" of a gap to allow for chassis flex. I think the guys with door cars and four speeds brace the rear of the trans but I don't know anybody with a three speed that does. Dave Germain

What I have done on the Liberty transmission that I run, a short Pro Stock style 5 spd with a mag case, is run two blow back tubes that are ran on the back of the transmission to the back frame rails in order to keep the driveshaft true during the course of the run to prevent driveshaft binding. In order to prevent the case from being cracked from tireshake, etc., the tubing on the framerail has rubber tubbing inside that allows for some flexing on the tubing only.

I have the same tubing on my Pro Trans 3 speed and I have not had any issues with cracking the case etc. If you want, let me know what your email is and I can email you a picture to show you how it's done.

    Trans Mounts

I just hang my CS1 (3spd) off the bellhousing with no mounts. I don't get stupid tire shake but it will shake on occasion. Never had any problems with cases breaking.

Butch hey buddy how have you been? What we found way back when we went from a 2 speed to a 3 speed lenco is that it needs some support. After talking to david at lenco, he said a chrome moly brace from the front mt bolts to the rear of the reveser case. Mine is 2 1/2" tubes under the case.
Are you going to run tew this year. Steve scott

Do not put a rear mount on a 3 speed in a funny car
I did break a trans in half many years ago for that reason, chassis flex
dont think that wont get your attention when it is right between legs and your lap
