How do I get away from using the Leahy cut over switch? I don't have enough cracking amps at this point with only one 16v battery, and keep on mind trying to save weight . BAE HEMI on board starter with MSD 44 and 7531 for timing control. Any help would b appreciated.

Either keep the 16v battery on board or get a smaller battery to run electronics, make sure you have enough for the amps the TB draws. Put a quick disconnect setup off the starter and carry 2 12v batteries on the golf cart/tow vehicle. You'll need a simple 24v solenoid, I believe GE makes it (it is a part off of a locomotive). This will give you enough cranking power to start the car and keep your weight the same or less (if you remove 16v in favor or smaller/lighter battery). You don't need any special starter either, we have done this "back in the day" and used the standard Tilton Super Starter. I got my 24v solenoid from Jeff Fowler in Ohio.

Sidenote: If you have more money than you know what to do with, you can put an RCD crank mount starter on the car and have 48v or 60v setup.

I have thought of that but r rules say that we can not have a support vehicle to assist starting once we enter the water box, so if the car dies were screwed.......

    16V starter amps

Sounds like the same issues I faced a few years ago. That is exactly why I went to a 24 volt start system, using 2 12 volt sealed motorcycle batteries on board with the required switching relays. I still use a booster in the pits to crank it, but I can depend on the on-board batteries to crank it if it were to die after the water box. Has only happened once in two years, but still.............
The batteries weight about 12 pounds each. What does your 16 volt battery weight?

We had same issue on our 526. Bought 2 smaller Odyssey batteries, hooked in series to starter for 24v, one battery is ran to all electronics for 12v. Works great.

You could mount the two 12v batteries where you need the weight and that way they're on the car. We had the same rule but just decided to chance it, we never had a problem with the car dying.
