What is the best surface roughness for a new set of freshly ground floaters? how coarse or smooth should I grind the plates? is it better to have them rough finish to bite into the discs, or a smooth finish....my grinder can grind to a mirror finish if required
    Thanks, Dave. email linkplas@exemail.com.au

    floater finishes

My clutch grinder will do everything from mirror smooth up to a coarse as a cob. I am sure a jillion guys will have opinions one way or the other. But I think more importantly is something consistent. So your discs and floaters have the same finish every time. I don't think the discs need to be the same as the floaters but that whatever finish you have on each stays the same. Once you get your clutch figured out I don't think it makes that much of a difference. On the other hand if you had mirror finished floaters on one run and coarse finishes on the next run that would certainly introduce another variable into your tune up. Dave Germain
