What the general opinion of the Amsoil products? A few guys on here say they have used it but nothing real definate.

Running out of my Penzoil and Amsoil is fairly easy to get up here in Canada.

    Thanks
    Corey

Although I am a Brad Penn dealer and lover...I have used (and still do) Amsoil in the Lenco with favorable results. Never tried the oil in an Alky motor (skeerd to!)

    Amsoil

I guess I should have mentioned this is going into the engine, looking at the 60Wt.

You sound like me, i know when i went from ATF to amsoil in the lenco years ago lots of bad things stopped right now. I was always gunshy of the price of the oil compared to others is why i never tried it in the motor.

AMSOIL Does claim that their product does and will work with supercharged alcohol, and Nitro powered Race Engines...I recently have become an AMSOIL dealer, and That is all we use back when I worked at a diesel high performance pick up shop. It really does have a great reputation and also as being the first in Synthetic motor oils they have improved with evoulutions of research and development,..I have it in my Tow rig, and soon will also be in my funny car with confidense. Alcohol can be seperated out of AMSOIL, just like Royal Purple, and Red line.

Amsoil may seem expensive, but if you look at the cost of, and how many times you change your oil per year with a standard oil, and then look at how fewer times per year you will be changing your oil using AMSOIL, it is because of the fewer amount of times you will need a oil change by atleast 3 to 4 times fewer,..you save money in the long run, and with better bearing and engine life too.

If you plan on purchasing any qaunities,..you should probly try and do it before March 1st. The Price of certain select AMSOIL products are going to be getting a price increase, which hasnt been done in over 10 years,...
You can click on my link and check out the AMSOIL products available at discount to wholesale prices,....Check out Product here >>>>> http://www.slickvicoils.com

OK I'm a brad Penn fan and we use it today , I will say in the past we ran the amsoil in a blown KB olds made 2200 hp on the dyno and we never had any oiling issues what so ever. it took a little long to seperate from the alcohol but it would back then we never tried to heat it to get it out but it always did a very good job. that was a new block a few years later I tried it in the same combo engine that was all older fixedup parts and it worked fine but I could not keep the oil pressure up where I liked to see it when that engine got hot, we tried many different oils and the brad penn won out and we never looked back. I think the amsoil will work fine if your engine oiling system is good and hot pressure is not a problem

    Here is my reasoning
    2k for barrel of amsoil
    800 for Brad penn
we run the penn 3-4 times and give it to an old guy who burns it for heat in his airplane hanger
we heat and filter after every pass thru a pump and filter 2 microns absolute
I would have to use the amsoil for 10-12 times to get the same dollar worth
I just dont feel comfortable using oil that many times
too much junk gets in there, and if something bad happens it is junk anyway
Penn oil works well for us, best thing we have tried so far
not saying that amsoil wouldn't be just as good
just doesn't make good cents to me

10-12 times maybe, but not likely, although 8-10 times is more realistic for re use before you toss it out,..
those who do re use their oils for their motor know exactly, check with their Petroliumologist,..lol....
Price wise,..Amsoil is priced right there with the other synthetic motor oils,.Royal Purple$2100..and Red line is even more at $2300. for a 55 drum. Now Im sure these prices can be beat by a supplyer these are Internet prices.
$800 dollars or $2000 dollars for a drum of oil,..well if you are racing with no money $800 drum of oil it is,..If its what you can afford, ..If you have cash or sponsor and can afford Synthetic, well $180.00 for a 5 gallon pail it is too,.. Brad Penn is only a partial Synthetic oil, thats why it costs much less,..its not a full Syntheteic oil,..and you only get 3 runs out of it. People will use and buy what they want from experience, availability, cost effectivness, and how much they can get for free,..eitherway mostall Synthetics will out last standard motor oil by 5 times. You pay for what you get.

Im with vic, I junk my oil or should I say we use it in mowers and heater after each race or if I feel it needs to be done sooner, what I save using brad peen will buy me a new set of rods quite often. I do think that the amsoil is a good product but it is a bit priceeeeee...Dave

FWIW if you sign up to be a Dealer or Preferred Customer your price for AMSOIL will be much less plus you'll earn cash back on your own purchases. Likely not as cheap as BP, but as others mentioned it's a full synthetic.

    Lucas Oil

I can get you Lucas oil for $600 a drum with freight extra. I like the idea of supporting the folks who sponsor the sportsman racing. Dave Germain

    Amsoil

After a little more research I think I'm going to look into the Brad Penn deal. I still have a season worth of Penzoil so I still have plenty of time to stike a deal with someone for some oil. Or maybe I'll look at becoming a dealer for something, I own a business.

    Thanks for the info
