Lapping fuel pump plates

    Trying to lap the plates in on my waterman pump i have a small lapping stone and it seems like it will take me years to get them to fit they need about .003 off them what does everybody else use to lap them in ?

    I like to do my own stuff, but I send my pumps Fuel + oil to Mike @ Rage. He did them and coated gears.and flowed them. Alot easier and I know it is done right. Don

    I just sanded down 2 gear sets for a waterman pump and it took me like 3 minutes. I use a granite block and black sandpaper for metal and it takes off .003 before you know it, just do not take off to much at a time. sand a little and than put the plates back in the pump and try them in between sandings. Remember always sand the backs of the plates. Rich
