I am thinking of bolting on an 8-71 or 10-71 high helix retro piece. I had a 10-71 std opening top and bottom. I only run about 12# boost to run 1 class. About 20 for another class.
Seems as guys use "setback plates". WTF?
Is it mandatory in lower hp applications? (1200 max) boat application
Is there an advantage in cylinder distribution as far as boost, or just fuel delivery?
Or another way.. do the front cyolinders see more pounding from the opening being right there?
    Thanks

The air coming out of the pie hole on a high helix blower comes out at a very sharp angle of 30-45* towards the front of the motor then the air has to turn 180* and collide with the blower outlet air to get to the back cylinders. This means that the cylinder distribution is lousy and the front two cylinders get most of the boost. By setting the blower back as far as you can makes it easier for the air coming out of the blower to get to the other cylinders so the boost in those back cylinders is increased so you get more even distribution of boosted air and more power.

    Hi Mike.... and everyone els

    On this topic

I have a Hi Helix with a retro opening, what it the best position for the retro opening on the manifold. I have an Indie extreme setback manifold, the opening sits in the middle of the manifold using the stud locations they provide

    Cheers Pete
