I've got a billet TFX block and have problems sealing the heads to the block to eliminate oil leakage. Run .080 hussey gaskets. Yes, the sleeves are slightly above the deck. What do you guys do?

TFXs have been notorious for this on all the TF teams I have done heads and one side or the other we run a thin layer of silicone along the lower side of the deck, just small amount on finger applied to block.

    sealing ends of heads

I was taught (agains't conventional wisdom) to torque the heads from the outside in and that helps them from lifting at the edges and helps them seal better. I only do this on solid head, solid block motors like a blown alcohol motor. I know most people say middle out, so the head stays flatter, but with the aluminum and high torque pressures I think there could be something to it. I have never had to silicone more than around the oiling holes. If you silicone along the edge it will create a small gap were the silicone stops at the top and bottom of the head. This is just good ol' Delaware know-how but it works. Our motor was spotless after a run.

we use to have oil leaking from the heads all the time. I run a small bead around the oil passages and then the whole head perimeter...no more leaks. I use they grey stuff. I tried the felpro "right stuff" one time and thought i would never get the heads back off.
