    got engine all together now but haven't started it yet;;;sort of want to wait till i have car body and paint done before putting engine in it..i did build a start-up-stand that it is on..i'm looking at first of summer;;engine long block has been together since feb.

    do i???????????one other thing is i have all openings[exhaust ports-burn down breathers-opening in hat]all taped off and engine is inside my house;;;

    put oil in engine;;prime oil pump until have oil pressure;;and let it sit???

    OR

    do above but crank enigne over a few times on a reg. bases with starter since i do have it on start-up-stand where i can ground mag and crank engine over without starting it..

    OR

    Back the valves off if its in the house you should be good to go. If you want to overkill it get some marine fogging spray lube. Spray with the tube trough the plug holes and roll the motor by hand and spray a little more (IT WILL SMOKE LIKE HELL WHEN FIRED) hope this helps. Craig

    OK;;;EXCITED NOW;;cranking engine over yesterday[not trying to start yet]and had 60psi on oil pressure gauge;;found only one leak..the valve cover gasket on left side only;;everywhere else dry;;good sign..MUST NOT START IN HOUSE;;GOT TO KEEP TELLING MYSELF THIS;;caught myself this morning thinking;;ha if i open front and rear doors of house then i should be able to start engine in house then;;A NO NO;;MUST BE STRONG AND RESIST THE TEMPATATION

    decided that what doing for storage till ready to start is to leave oil in engine;;crank over every 2 weeks till oil pressure is up on gauge[assuring that everything is getting oiled inside engine]
    [1]will this work for me?
    [2]is there anything else i should do[exp. lubicate blower rotors each time]
    [3]what about fuel pump?should i remove it from engine or just leave it along?[it is all sealed up with fuel lines and returns all hooked up.[no fuel in tank]

    Do you still have your valves set or did you back them off? I rotate my motor every 3 to 4 days during race season when we run back to back, But if we are off for two or more weeks i flip the rockers right away. Thats alot of stress on the springs to be leaving them colapsed.

    As much as it sounds like fun...i wouldnt start it in the house!

    Engine Storage

    I have the same problem you do, my engine is complete but the car is not. I'm just going to wait untill the car is ready and then assemble the engine. That wasy you don't have to keep looking at it for months and getting excited:cool: , plus there is less chance of contamination etc. :)
