KB cam/bearings issue

My buddy is in a conundrum with his stage 4 KB block. It is a standard cam location but has been bored out for "big cam" size bearings. The problem is that nobody makes an off-the-shelf STD cam location (45 degree) with big cam journals. The cam companies will make him a custom cam for $500, but then he'd end up with a one-off piece and no possibility of being able to use another one in a pinch.

Has anyone ever had this problem? I wonder if any one makes a custom cam bearing set that is Big cam on the OD and standard cam on the ID?

Buy the cam, save yourself the headaches

 

i have to agree with John. how much will you spend to have the holes downsized then buy a regular cam?

 

He will most likely buy the custom made cam for it. We were just curious if anyone else had the same problem and found anyone that maybe make some custom thicker cam bearings that are Big Cam OD and Standard Cam ID. If there's not anything like that out there then so be it.
