How do you tell if an older chassis has rust inside ?

    Disclaimer- I don't know.


    I think that a sonic tester would reveal internal loss of material.

    My NHRA chassis guy payed close attention to the low points in my 30 year old funny car chassis, looking for evidence of weakness from rust. He simply measured tube thickness with his sonic tester.

    How bout drilling a small hole and looking at the shavings.

    any picticular places where you might think to put the sonic tester to, that is most likely a place where they start rusting in 30 year plus frames?
