I pretty green & looking to buy a fuel funny car. Ive never really looked at one up close & I am needing to know if there is enough distance between the mid plate & the rear end to cram a 3 speed Lenco with a 8 5/8 can in it?
    Thanks,John

Any chassis with the rear motor plate 63 inches out, or further will accomodate what ever your needs may be,...65, 66 inches out is common by todays standards...
I would become friends with someone that has been around and knows his way around the cars/chassis to help you so you dont get taken on a chassis that does not meet your requirements or current spec. tubing that is not thick enough or the diameter is to small is extra work and will not recert if it does not meet chassis specs.

65 66 out is common for the fuel chassis? If so i wonder how much if any of the tranny will be under the driver seat?

Do the math,..Lenco 3 spd is ruffly 22.5 inches long add 8 5/8 for the can, now go to the chassis you are looking at and from the rear motor plate go 31 inches torwards the rear end..
Thats how much it may or may not go under the seat of the chassis you are looking at.
My chassis has the motor plate 53.5 inches out and at first thought the car ran a lenco 3spd, so I bought all the components and a 8 1/8th can and had it mocked up and the tail of the tranny was somewhere around 6 or 7 inches under my seat.

I took a B&J 3 speed and an 8 7/8 bell and replaced it with a full length powerglide with a hemi ultrabell and the driveshaft length was exactly the same. the trans combo was within a fraction of an inch.
