What does everyone shoot for as far as main bearing and rod clearances, and also the thrust main bearing side clearances? This is a KB10 block with a 4.5 Bryant crank, GRP rods and JE pistons with 48#s of boost-THANKS for any help in advance, one of the machine shops I deal with thinks I am asking for way too much clearance? THANK YOU-Jim

.0045 seems common on mains, and anywhere from .005 to .007 on a new set of rods depending on who you talk to. The rods shrink up after a few runs.

So how much were you asking for? Maybe your machine shop is right! :D

    Bearing Clearances

Brian, I was wanting .005 to .006 on the rods and mains and .025 to .030 on the thrust bearing side clearance, as we run a powerglide with a converter. THANK YOU to all who help everyone on this site!!!

We run .0045-.005 on the mains and .004 on the rods (2.200 pin crank 4.5 stroke) and the thrust comes in around .015. Mopar wedge/powerglide, somewhere around 1500hp.
