I'm hearing from a few sources that if you are running a BigM Chevy block with the Titan/Moroso pro billet wet sump pumps that its a good idea to put restrictors in so you don't pump the pan dry. I wasn't going to run any but now I'm wondering if I should. I did a search on the subject at this forum and it went both ways.

    Any advice would be great.

I used .080" holes drilled into blank plugs, and screwed them into the inner lifter gallery bores, no problem with oil pressure, pressure was 130 psi cold, 85 psi hot, bearings looked great, 468" with a screw blower in a 2300 lb altered, 6.48 @ 223 mph.

I do not know of a restrictor that you can buy for these blocks. But its easy enough to use pipe plugs and drill your own hole in them. This is what we did.

There are many reasons why the pan goes dry, such as colder thicker oil trying to gravity drain back through oil screens in the lifter valley, not enough oil in pan and/or you have too much more air psi in the pan vs in the valvecovers and this won't let the oil gravity drain back to the pan (put external vent on pan or externally connect the valve covers and pan with big hose)

    Oil Restrictors

I had a look at the block this morning and if I decided to use restrictors (leaning that way) using a drilled cap plug looks like it will work nicely.

.080"-.090" seems to be the orfice size most are using.

Make sure to "dry run" the pipe plugs before you clean the block, both of ours needed to be tapped deeper to make it all work.

    Restrictors

Thanks for the advice, I'll make sure I put them in before final assembly.
