So last week my buddy and I closed both of our businesses for the week so we could go to Bakersfield to go racing. Let me tell you this was not a good decision. I have never been treated so poorly at a event in my life. I would strongly suggest not. We were givin a printed schedule that said we run at 3:00 so we stopped ate breakfast and went to the track just to find out they had just run our class. Go to the tower to find out they changed the schedule and apparently we are supposed to be a mind reader as well as a drag racer. Let me tell you that if I was a mind reader that I would not drive 1100 miles one way to get treated like crap. I would highly recomend to anyone that wants to go race at the famed Hot Rod Reunion don't waste your time. Take your money and throw it in the trash it would have the same effect. A schedule means nothing to those people at all and going a little early or late is one thing buit to go from 3:00 to 10:30 in the morn is B. S . I will never attend this event again as a racer and would strongly advise against going to run at this event.

So what race are you talking about the CHRR? What day? Why in the heck would you not get there and set up early? Didn't you need to go thru tech, get credentials etc? Was there and pretty sure everyone got 2 shots. Something is missing from your story.

I think he was expecting them to stick to the schedule.

    They never do.

Very hard to do sometimes but I don't think the CHRR adjusted the schedule on Friday and at worst they sure didn't knock out both qualifying runs. Calling bs

What class were you in? Car #?

Saturday was pretty much on time.

All I am saying is five hours of change is a little B. S and the saturday schedule was hardly on time of course maybe it was according to yours . I guess I know now that always know if you have a schedule go to the tower and find the right one because the one they give you is just to waste time money and paper. Stiill pissed and will never attend this event again. And will tell everyone to stay away. I have been to lots of events divisional and national and the schedule never changes the way this one did. Not my first rodeo but definitely my first goat f>*#ing.

True story unfortunately. I was there crewing on friends car and went to the tower Friday night to get a copy of the round 1 Q session and just by luck I grabbed a copy of Saturday's run schedule. We had more than a few 7.0 pro racers stop to verify that our 3:00 pm 2 Q session had been moved to 10:36 am. Stuff happens sometimes/always.

So Leon you got a qualifier on Friday and Saturday was bumped up? If that's correct, then faitlover should have been teched in friday already and had 1 shot in? That is unless he drove all those miles to just try to race/qualify on Sat. Was 2nd qualifier there years ago in b-gas when GG's had it. Won first round and then sat for 4 plus hours in the lane waiting for 2nd round. They ran T/F around us twice and when it looked like rain was coming they ran exhibition cars instead of us. Since Bowser's took over the racers have been treated pretty good but shit does happen. Fiat what was your car number?

    7.0 is a great class

So looked at the schedule and see they ran at 11:30 and 5pm on Sat. Looks like you ran a 7.79 @ 170+ on the 7.0 index in the second session. Sorry you missed your first shot, did you have enough car to qualify if you got 2 shots?

The car was teched and ready to go on Thurs. We made a pass Friday was sitting just off the bump and then got the shaft. On the tire shouldn't judge unless you know the facts, Is this my fault , yes but I was not aware and have never experienced this kind of unorganization at any race I have ever been to. Next time I will know but it will never be in Bakersfield. I really won't tell anyone to go there.

You know I think that 7.0 would be a great class and this has nothing to do with the class and everything to do with the opperation. The event cordinator, can't remember his name was rude and would not have anything to do with talking to anyone about it and actually put a guy out front to stop anyone before they got to the stairs and said the decision was made and that's all that they needed to know

NE/1 got bounced around too. You have to expect it at the MM & CHRR. Shit happens. We are the lower cars on the food ladder. On the schedule, NE/1 had one hit Friday & two on Saturday.

In reality, we got two within an hour on Friday, and one on saturday. Again, shit happens, and with over 60 FUEL cars on the property, expect their overall sessions to last 3-5 hours (which they did on Friday). N/FC took over three hours i believe by itself.

You have to roll with it when you are not the headliners.

Again, you got to run your racecar. How bad could the weekend have been?

Oh ya, i qualified a wonder 26/32, and lost first round. It sucked ass, but i was racing!

Never, ever, believe the schedule printed for any race.

The printed sheet I had for Bowling Green October was 2 rds qualifying on Saturday.
Ended up 1 rd qualifying, 1st round eliminations at 3pm.

We almost didn't go to the track early Saturday but at the last minute changed our minds. Glad we did.

While I understand the frustration at Bakersfield, it's not confined to NE1 etc.
We ran Top Fuel at the March Meet and it was a guessing game as to when to do our warm-up. Times seem to be changing by the minute.
We were told a certain time, that was over an hour delayed, so started doing some fuel system work and then were told "Top Fuel to the lanes" not 10 minutes later.
We were frantically hooking up fuel lines while pushing through the lanes.

Don't blame the Bozers at this race as it is a NHRA event! the Bozers take care of the track an consessions. NHRA is in charge The March meet is the Bowers event!

Don't let it get you down.

At my local track there has been quite a few times that track management has screwed people around. My brother has had more than his fair share of it. I have had a few minor incidents. My brother lets it ruin his racing. I try to remember that I Am Racing!! therefore I am Happy!! Gratitude goes along way when your gettin the shaft. I know those kind of expenses and time wasted are a hard pill to swallow, but don't let one bad experience screw up your future/present. Look at it this way, it's no worse on the pocketbook (probably better actually) than towing all the way there and oiling down the track 2 passes in a row, ruining your brand new motor and having to go beg the track manager to let you come back again cause you cost him a thousand or more in cleanup and wages for track personnel and then being treated like a redheaded step child by everyone including the fans for F#$king up the whole day (not that I did that.... ummmm after that time) it's racing. it's supposed to be fun. yeah it costs allot and is frustrating... and more times than not the tracks/racing associations treat us like shit. but I personally go there with the attitude.... I'm going to give it every thing I have and win lose or draw -----I'M GOING TO HAVE FUN!!! just my 2 cents... sorry you had such a bad weekend .... next year go up there and show them how it's done and take their money!!!
