I am a boat guy. (I know, sorry).
I just bought on of Randy's pieces. Are any of you guys running a battery specifically for the logger?
Reasoning...if I could put a small 12v battery in a case with the logger, I could simply unplug cables from the logger and take the whole unit out. (for winter, between races, etc) Also, it is a pain to get power to where I am mounting the logger.
If not, I will just run some wires.
    Thanks
    Wags

We use a Radioshack 55034004 12V/ 4Ah battery. Runs the logger all day.

    battery

i had trouble with the radio shack alarm batteries since i ran my timers, fuel and six shooter off it, bought a deslies (think thats how its spelled) out of jegs weighs about 5 or 6 lbs but did the job, if the data logger is all your running the small radio shack battery should work fine.

    Battery

I use the very small battery that Randy supplies. The battery and logger are in a box the size of a dictionary. I put power switch and on light on the outside. The charge in the battery lasts all day and a small trickle charger works fine. I bought a spare from him also. If I remember correctly they are well under $20.

I spoke with Randy today as I sent my wiring off to him to put on ends and also wanted to buy another sensor.
I asked him about the battery and bought one of his also. They are 15 bucks. Can't beat that. He has to send stuff back to me anyway.
I cannot believe his customer service. I did not think service like his existed anymore.
Oh, so I also bought one of those Pelican watertight cases. I figure everything can be mounted in there. I can run leads through the side and silicone up around the holes. Should be pretty water tight, then I can flip open the lid so allow it to stay dry when no rain, in water, etc.
    Thanks

Randy is absolutely one of the best, as helpful as anyone could be.

As far as the battery, lots run a reg lead acid, lots run an AGM.

Myself I would run a tool battery as it just seems they would be tougher as well as being easy to charge and keep a hot spare in the charger.

Eliminator flatbottom??!!! Do you have an Eliminator Spyder??!!
Those are the coolest boats known to man! I thought I knew every one that existed on planet earth. I gotta see this deal.
And my good buddy Wags, he only drives a little boat. A little blown alcohol hydro in the liquid quarter.
