What length pushrod to use in a 540ci 481t rodeck 14-71 blower motor??? It has brodix bb2 heads with 1.90/2.30 valves and 800" lift comp cam and crower roller lifters.. Also what brand pushrod do you recommend? I was told to use 200" over stock but wasn't sure if this was right!!!!!! THANKS

There is only one brand pushrod out there that is good for racing and that is Manton. Call up Terry Manton and he can send you an adjustable pushrod and tell you how to use it then you send him the pushrod and he matches the length. You have to have the correct valve train geometry for the roller tip of the rocker arm and the contact patch ontop of the valve stem. Usually the rocker arm maker will have a diagram of the geometry they want to see on their website or you can call them and they can email you something.

I like Manton as well. (I won't say they are the only ones worth using, but the only ones I use.) Get the biggest, thickest pushrod you can fit in the hole.
But length is not an equation. It is geometry. Take an adjustable pushrod and play with the length until the geometry over the rocker tip on the valve is perfect. Also, make sure you measure total lift at each length of the pushrod. You can lose over .100 of the valve lift having the wrong geometry with regards to too long or too short of a pushrod. (In the application you are running.) Also, what rockers you are running?

    Push rod lenghts

I just got finished checking my engine for pushrod lenghts, x3 on Manton. Received the pushrods today, beautiful stuff. Get the 8-9" adjustable (intake) and the 9-10" inch for the exhaust lenght checkers. Mine is a Big M block with dart conventionals but with what you are running those should do. Depending on what rockers you have and what thickness gaskets etc that makes the pushrods all different from engine to engine. All I can say is stuff the largest pushrods you can in there. Especially on the exhaust side.

    Pushrod lenght

Still best to check them using and adjustable lenght checker. If you get the wrong lenght you'll just start tearing stuff up.

I used pushrod checker to get length. The exhaust was 9 15/16" and the intake was 8 15/16"... I took the measurement from end to end of pushrod. I do have guide plates and my rockers are 1.7 aluminum crane, not crower. I plan to get 3/8'' with .083'' wall when I contact Terry Manton tomorrow..... I now feel really good about my pushrod lengths..... THANKS to everyone!!!!!!!!

You might want to rethink the 3/8 deal. I would suggest minimum 7/16 and 1/2 is even better.

    Pushrod lenghts

x2 on rething the 3/8" I was thinking a lot smaller as well untill I called Terry. He set me up with 7/16 x 1/2" taper .188 wall for my intakes and 1/2" x .188 straight wall for my exhausts.
He is probably going to set you up with something much larger than you estimate. Never hurts to go large, it takes some grinding on the Chevy heads but they do fit (just).

Manton said I did need a 7/16 with .120 wall and he would take care of what I needed, so they got me straightened out on the pushrods... He also said I really needed ss crower rockers instead of aluminum crane......
