Downloaded the data, but had spikes and not all channels recorded. Shifted by the light, but the RPM data recorded wasn't even close. The only channel that appears to be correct is oil pressure. I've checked grounds and all connections. Any ideas??
    Thanks!

Moore, you are kind of lean in your info. Tell us more. What kind of data recorder is this. Have you tried a recording at idle? Is this a new install?

Mike - This is not a new install, unit has worked great in the past. Racepak V-Net 300, unit does record ok in the pits @ idle and quick blips to check response. Had this problem once before and was told the record button has to be held for 5 seconds, that is not the issue this time.
    Any input would be appreciated.

What kind of car is this V300 in? Is it a dragster, FC or promod or what?

If you are using wire leads, change them to spiral core & see if that helps.

As MKR indicates. Racepak will tell you that this is a on going problem with using a V-Net system in funny cars and dragsters and this is why they don't recommend it with those type of cars. A lot of racers have no problems but then some do. It doesn't seem to bother a Promod. The Promag and the ignition system radiates too much electromagnetic interference. Some cars/systems can take and some can't. The indication is exactly what you are describing. Since you say the V300 worked OK before then something has been changed. Either you are using a different type of spark plug wires or you changed the routing of some wires or you have lost a ground somewhere. One of the big antennas for picking up this interference and feeding it to the V300 is the EGTs wires. We had to wrap a ground wire around each of the braided wires and ground them to the chassis on one car to make it all work. Think back to what you did when the problem first occured. Maybe call Racepak and see what they have learned and what their fixes have been.

No luck with contacting Racepak. Thanks for the input, I'll start looking and thinking.

While we are on data downloading, what difference would you expect to see in the EGT when the engine has slight detonation?

Probably nothing if slight detonation. EGTs change very slowly.
