Just had a great weekend. Finally got the car to hook all the way through and it was awesome. This is a 245" dragster with a 511 Stage 10 fuel-head and a mert 14hh. You guys have helped me since the day I got it last fall, and it all paid off on Saturday. We run 1/8 mile on an old runway that we lease from the county. It has been difficult to hook because we didn't have any way to prepare the track other than spray compound on it. At last one of our members brought out a semi and trailer with old tires on it and locked the brakes and dragged rubber on the track for several hours. Wow! It made an incredible difference. I ran twice, a 1.13 4.84, and a 1.17 4.86. The data recorder looks like it'll take a bunch more timing next time, so I'm setting up a timing curve now. I'm pretty sure I can get at least a 1.0 60' and shave a couple more tenths without any real effort. On top of being on an airport track, the density altitude that day was over 10,000! Thanks for all your help.

I'll talk to you guys later, right now I have to go out in the garage and pet my car.

Cogratulations Brian. I am really glad all worked out for you. Be very careful if you come down in density altitude. You will need a whole new hat and port nozzle setup and will have a ton more boost and power.

Thanks Mike, got that under control. Spud set me up with a tuneup down to about 6000 density, which would cover me if I went to Salt Lake for a day. A good track with some air pressure would really be a kick.

Absolutely. I took your advice and launched off the foot brake, dropped the tire pressure, and put some timing back in it. One of the guys helping me is an old friend of Frank Parks and had me talk to him as well. He said the same thing you did, that my tire pressure was way to high at 6lbs and I was hitting it too hard. Timing is still a little low, but flat at 27 degrees. Now I can start adding it back little by little to see what the track will take. I was amazed at the difference in how it hits the tires without the transbrake. Much, much softer. I'm pretty sure I can give it quite a bit more in first gear and even more after the shift.

Im still running at 33 over, and the data showed steady 24lbs. If our track keeps getting better, and I think it will, I'll throw a 42% pulley on it next year.
