Hi guys. Currently running 17" Alumastar front runners with 2.25 Goodyear tires, but having changed from an alloy SBC to cast block BBC, has me thinking whether l should be looking at changing to 15x3.5 front wheels and tires to compensate for the exta weight. Or at least maybe change to the new 4" goodyear TF frontrunners on my existing wheels.
Car is a blown bbc 125" CM altered.
    Any thoughts?

I don,t know why you need to change, but I am a dragster guy. Maybe someone else can chime in. But the funny car guys run the bigger tire. Don

I'm not saying that l do need to change, but some feedback from guys who have the same style of car, and their preference would be be nice. Will the extra weight make any difference, should l have a little more contact area on the track to make it easier to steer around the turn off at the end of the track, or???
Or should l just stick with what l have. Just looking for some opinions.

we have 17" wheels on our car.....and the car before it, and love them. personally, i like the look better as you can narrow the front end up quite a bit with the dragster wheels. as far as steering goes, our car runs in the low 6's and i have yet to have any problems what so ever. everyone likes what they like i guess...i say ..stick with what you have.

My car originally had the 2.25's, never had a problem with steering but was a little concerned with the slight bulge in the tire even at 45 pounds of air, wound up putting the 4.00 T/F on, no more bulge, just more comfort level for me. Like Darren, I just like the look of the 17 a whole lot better for an altered and wanted to keep them. I'm running a KB on a 125", think Darrens car is 140", that would take a little weight off the front, but with a BBC, you should be fine.
