Small end clearance

whats a good place to start on a 1.156 pin to rod clearance on a hemi rod? blown alchohol combo. what would be considered tight, and loose? thanks for the input.

 

I put around .0008 to .001 on the .990 and the 1.094 pins. Aluminum rods and 60 weight oil. Never had any problems.

 

a bit too much

the reason i ask, we just got a new set of rods, and it has .003 or more which is about what the old ones were, but feels and looks like way too much too me. pistons didnt appear to be scuffed oddly or anything, but sure can rock the pin a whole lot? anybody else wanna step in here?

 

Sounds plenty loose to me, I would think .0015 is about what I would use for that dia. pin.

We use .990 pins right at .001 clearance.
