    Hi,
What is the best practice to remove light surface rust from a TA/FC chassis.

The humidity is very high in the summer here.

    Thanks
    Mike L.

I've always seen guys use WD-40 and steel wool or scotch brite then a rag to clean up.

I did my entire dragster chassis, which had been sitting in Oklahoma, with wd40 and scotch brite pads. worked great. On a couple of spots I used a light wire wheel in my cordless. Turns your hands a nice shade of black if you don't have gloves on.

We use a marine gear oil its out in the trailer but we got it at walmart, its in a blue tube and was cheap.I did the car with it in the spring and it mostly lasts a season,a little goes pretty far.

    surface rust on chassis

A common practice is to use spray on cooking oil.It doesn't evaporate like wd 40.Leaves a film on the chassis to protect from future rust.

    Rusting

We are in the uk, i have tried alsorts, most evaporate, but the cleanest stuff i use now is bees wax, it gets damp over here (manchester) "rainy city",
now i have no problems, and it lasts

I've always used scotchbrite (the red stuff mainly) as opposed to steel wool. Much nicer on your hands, and it doesn't leave steel shards around on the frame to rust.
