Can anyone tell me what each 'type' of King bearing is used for (street/strip/naturally aspirated/blown/etc) and how to identify them? I had one shop assemble my short block and they told me the bearings I supplied were the wrong 'type'. I tried looking on the King web site but it's impossible to use :(

    Thanks,
    Paul.

Am I to assume from the lack of replies that this is such a stupid question that no one can be bothered answering it, or, no one knows???

or maybe nobody is using them?

I ran Kings in my smallblock for a very short period of time.
I had a problem with their main bearings.... three sets of main bearings in three weeks , it was as if the babbitt material was fracturing down the center of the bearing then delaminating its self from the backing.
I spoke to the people at king and I was told by them that I had the wrong bearing and they sent me the correct ones and they did the same thing.

I switched to a different brands "H" bearings and the problem went away.

Ran them in my injected BB chevy years ago. Loved them. I just put them in my motor.for the mains. It's a blown Hemi Going to try them. Really sick of the way the M's + V" are looking like after a few runs. I do a lot of maintenance on my motors so I will find out. But there is two different bearings, and one set is made for street use. I would call them, if I were you. they are in New Jersey. Good luck Don

Been using them in our blown sbc for a few years with no problems. Usally good for 2 seasons on mains and rods. I have herd the same thing about delaminating or flacking but havnt seen it on our stuff. Mabey thay solved that problem. As far as whitch bearing to use if you cant contact king then Jim Maher at Good Vibrations can probably help you. (800)576-7661

    King engine bearings

X4...My experience with them has been very good, and GV doesnt gaff on junk parts. But. with that said...the suffix HP is a component on the part number, if not, it's a Pass car bearing. And they are the only certified supplier to use in the aircraft engine rebuild field.
