Is it commont for a mallory 5 amp magneto to rotate after one pass? only spun around 8000 rpm. SBC. I'm using a stainless steel band to hold it to my offset drive. Any suggestions:confused:

    Mallory Mag

My Mallory mag has never moved and I use an old POS band clamp that I should really replace. Can you turn it by hand after you tighten everything up? What type of offset drive are you running?

    Clamp

Throw that band clamp as far as you can. Get a billet clamp from dunn (940-240-1603) before it cost you a engine.

I do agree with the billet clamps they are the way to go. Sitko makes a nice on also.

    Mag Clamp

Good Vibrations has a picture of the Dunn clamp.

Go to dragparts.com and look under magneto accessories.

Try Robert Reehl , I think he sells a billet clamp at a reasonable price and is a sponsor on this site .

We've had problems with our mallory turning and it ended being the offset wasn't machined quite right.
