Ok my psi blown 481x is hard on zoomies, one or two events and they normally crack about 3" from the flange. Are zoomies made of stainless holding up better???

I think you are seeing the effects of detonation, we had a similar situation. We lowered our compression ratio and our crack problem was solved.

I think its more an effect of weight, car is a '57 chevy pro mod and the pipes are a little long. Dont think it is detonating, bearings always look decent.
Thought the 2 step was hurting them so I took it off for a while, no better.

    Zoomie Cracking

I curious how detonation could crack a zoomie pipe 3 inches out from the head. Don't get me wrong I'm not calling BS I just can't figure that one out.

I used to crack mine in the same place all the time, especially when it bounced a lot in the shutdown area, we added a brace between the header and the lower frame rail, never cracked again

The way I see it if you have 1100 degree plus temps in a .060 wall tube firing when ever it wants bad things will happen. Our headers were breaking up when we had detonation problems. BS or not we fixed our problem when we solved detonation issues

Jim Salemi @ GForce Race Cars builds a badass set of pipes. We're testing a P/M style zoomie on our TAD (they're stainless) this season. They run them on ADRL/PM cars and have very good luck with them. Give him a call, he can prolly help ya out.
