I am going to be looking for a 2 speed lenco drive in a few month's. I was wondering what anyone with experience thinks is a good price range to be looking for. Thank you Don

Not to hijack but what would be some good choices for a first gear in one of these two speed Lenco drives? 2300lb car, 2400 HP, 34.5 rear tires, 3.89 - 4.10 rear gears. 1/4 mile

don I have work on several lenco's with converters just remember when backing up NEVER wack the throttle or you will roll the sprag in it and yes around $1,000.00 I fix this guys 3 times till I went with him on the 2nd time to a race and watch him to see what was going on and backing up after a burn out he would just tap the pedal and it would kill it other that that they are bullet proof..Dave

    JS,
Not sure why but Snyder only sells the 2-speeds with either a 1.56 or 1.73 first gear, at least according to the web site. I do know the L-drive uses CS-2 gearsets so it looks like you could change over to whatever gearset you needed.

Thats who I am gettin it from, I guess the 173 is a good starting spot.

< makes note not to "whack" throttle in reverse.

After we went from a 'glide to a Bruno/Lenco we thought our transmission problems were a thing of the past! The first race we attended we broke reverse just like you're talking here..........with no wacking the throttle in reverse. I was told to back up in high gear because it would knock down the torque that was getting transferred through the reverser. It seems to have been some good advice. I don't have to get on the brakes near as hard to stop in reverse and no more broken reverse parts after I started backing in high gear so it seems like the theory was correct.

After I tore mine up last fall, I heard just the opposite, that it was better to go into reverse with the trannies in low, now I'm really confused. It did seem to go into reverse easier with them in low, maybe once you're in, put the trannies back in high for backup, cause I did notice last weekend that I had to get on the brakes harder than usual to get it to stop when I used low. One thing I did do was take more time on the transbrake before shifting the reverser, and just nudge it in, seemed to help. From some reason this just seems to be more of a problem when running a converter setup instead of a clutch.

If it was ever hard to put in reverse I would just bump it a little and it would go right in never a problem at all and that was in high gear as well.
