crankshaft balancing

    hi do you have to balance the crank with metal, or can you do it with just drilling into the counter weights. running stroker with aluminum rods thx:cool:

    Depends on where the crank needs to be corrected. If it is heavy on the counter weight side you can grind/shape or drill the counter weight. If it is light on the counter weight side you either add heavy metal or lighten the rod throw. Hope this helps.

    Mopar,
    I will assume this is the same question you asked on Speedtalk. First thing, This is NOT something you can do without the proper equipment. Just holding your thumb up and guessing what to do and where will net zero dividends. Ask around and find a shop that does engine balancing.

    If you wish to know what equipment I speak of do a google search. CWT has a bunch of videos on their site about the generic basic steps involved.
