It depends on what class your running. Thats ok for ET or advanced ET, but if your going to run Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, or higher, you have to have "Two 1-inch diameter connections. All breathers must be positive locking."

    hose for breather

A -10 hose is just 9/16 in inside diam. I would run something a little bigger. There is a reason that a min. of 1 in is required. Good luck Don

    Run bigger.

When we first started we used two #12 hoses, one vent on the dry sump tank and one vent out of the valley, that was definently not enough.

We added one 1 inch vent to each valve cover and all our oil leaks went away.

Seems blower motors have alot of blowby, who would have guessed.

Also if you ever loose a piston it could make the difference between an oil fire pr crash and no oil fire or crash.

I just went thru this with a buddy of mine. he had a #10 line running from one valve-cover to the other, then a T-fitting ,then to a catch tank on his streetcar and it kept pushing oil out the rear main seal. well I got looking at it and the chinese #10 male to 1" pipe fitting in the tank only has a 3/8 hole in it.
So he was trying to vent the whole engine thru one 3/8 hole ;)

The only time I've ever seen to much vent is when its a big hole in the side of the block!

I would not use one of those, they do not hold enough volume and will spill over onto the track, I've seen it first hand on a friends blown altered.

You might want to make one yourself like I did below. It holds around 1.25 gallons and uses 1.25" id hose:

Thanks, and, I would not go any smaller than one gallon.

My setup is 406 sbc w/6-71 with the same size pan as yours.

As I stated in my first post, a friend of mine was running the small tank and it filled up sometime around the burn out. He made it to about the 100 ft mark when the tank started to spill out and he nearly lost control. When we got to the car, you could see oil had pushed out the breather and had spilled oil all over the motor, it was mounted in front of the motor.

Other will probably chime-in, but I would rather have too big of tank than too small and one gallon is typically the minimum size in most rulebooks.

Yes, it should have baffles, mine has 2 vertical and 1 horizontal with horizontal being below the breathers and the 2 vertical separating the hose inlet to the breather area.

If you want something that looks similar check out Moon equiptment co. A little bigger wall thickness. Think about oil under YOUR tires..... or worse, 1 tire.
