Buying funny car from usa help taking it to canada

Hi im buying a funny car rolling chassis with body from the usa and i live in bc. Canada. Has anyone on here ever had to deal with taking a race car across the boarder?. Not sure how much tax, duties and so on..

It is not a problem at all. I would suggest that you use a customs broker, and have everything in place before either you or a shipping company arrive at the border. PM me and I can hook you up with my broker guy if you want.

 

PM me if you have any questions. I have brought up a couple into Canada. Dont bother with a broker I can walk you throught it. I used a broker on the first car and it was a waste of $

 

I purchased one a couple of years ago. Picked it up myself and came across without a broker had all paperwork.Bill of sale, copy of bank draft,copy of ad on racing junk. Customs was a little problem but got thru when all paper work checked out to be ok. have everything listed on bill of sale , any extra parts that go with it and good discription of car.

I've brought a bunch of stuff across the border over the years, including a roller. To me, the small broker fee each time is good peace of mind, not to mention the tax considerations. A former Pro Mod racer put me onto my guy about 8 years ago and I've never looked back.

 

Just a little note just because you have a broker does not mean you get thru the border the inspector you deal with will at the time of crossing may want to come out and inspect car to insure it is what it is as to bill of sale with parts etc. all the broker will help you with is the duty cost but they still have the right to inspect paper work. and check car.

 

I agree. last time I used a broker they messed up on the paperwork and I sat at the border crossing for 4 hrs until I finally decided to do the paperwork myself.You will need to fill out a "Exportaion of Equiptment not requiring a title" sheet. Like I said I wouldn't bother with a broker if it was me. They are more harm than good when dealing with race cars and hot rods in my opinion.
I have brought up a few race cars,a bunch of Harleys,trucks, and a couple race car trailers with no problems

 

You only have to pay some export fees , i don't remember exactly , but somewhere between $100 to $ 200 , plus the GST & PST taxes . that's all .
