was after some feedback on what heads would be best to use:

    D psi supercharger
    CN billet BBC block
    480 to 500 cubes
custom blower manifold to suit heads

what head combo would be the best, dollars not an issue i just want to know what is going to be the best head for this combo

will consider anything CFE, AJPE, DART, BRODIX, AFR ect

    thanks for your help

I've run both the AFR 357 and AJPE Billet. While the flow numbers look lower on the AJPE heads, the ports are re-designed to equalize the flow into the chambers. They also come with pressed in head stud washers and head stud tubes that seal the studs that are in the intake ports.

AFR won't sell you a solid billet, tried to get one set from them and they wouldn't do it. They are still a pretty good set of heads though.

Haven't tried the new CFE's but have seen a lot of rocker suds pulled out in their old castings. Maybe their new billet will fix that.

If you haven't bought the block and manifold yet and are not restricted to running a wedge head, I would really consider going to a Hemi. When you start getting to this level with these parts, the price differences are not that much. Just my 2 cents.

Just stay away from the cast stuff. even the solid heads. You can change head stud location on the block if it isn,t started. also the lifter bore size + location. so you don't need to run the off-set lifter. + cross bolted mains. All the old pro mod stuff was wedge until the let the hemi in.Think it over. But money wise it is cheaper to do a hemi. if you don't mind running old stuff. You can make that wedge run Fast. Just keep in mind valve train.

    Hi Al

Sorry to jump in on your thread I did not know that there were Billet BBC heads for blown engines, do they come in only 23' or do they come in various combos?

    Cheers

I am not to impressed with CFE have had 1-head split in half, seats fall out, studs pull out. You can get a dart billet head or the ajpe billet head but the parts are way more expensive and your stuck with buying parts from them only.

Buy a billet head with steal guides and insert washers pressed into the head. A one piece rocker stand assemble helps also. Cast heads with small OD bronze guides that have long valves and no support tend to move things around a bit. Also check for a intake that is easy to bolt on and fit the PSI without major work. I have worked days on some spread port chevy blower intakes to make the useful for there application.

Maybe maybe with a 481X...if the guys tuning the hemi's are worth their salt, then no it can't be done. Go hemi if $$$ is no issue....parts availability is MUCH better and improving technology is constant. BAE/TFX billet block, Brad8 , PSI-D.....impossible to run with that on BBC setup. If you want to be different go with a Miner Bros setup, some very very fast cars utilizing that setup. Also keep in mind the repair costs (and loss of races unless you plan on carrying a spare manifold or two) on the "custom manifold" when you hiccup the screw....
