liners

    I talked to Hoosier and they said that some guys are running liners with double beadlock wheels. Does anyone know how to do this?

    What would be the advantage of running both?

    That would be alot of weight.like spinning two large flywheels let alone other differences. Don

    think about that for a minute !

    What would the liner do... seeing that the bead of the tire is already contained in the beadlock . wouldn't the linner be just pushing on the rim?

    The benefit of the liner is that it occupies the inside of the slick with something that can hold it's shape under torque. The liner allows you to run high tire pressure in 80 % of the inside of the tire. This means that the 6 pounds of air that you put in can only move around so much. Is this not the distortion that cause the tire to get out of round? From an engineering view is this not the benefit of the liner? The only reason I ask about doing it with double beadlock is that most of us have double beadlocks now. As for the weight, is it better to make a pass a hundredth slower or shake the tires?

    I would think it might act more like a tube/liner wheel setup as well, making it not grab quite as hard as a beadlock with no liner? We have one set of tube/liner wheels and one set of beadlocks, and only use the beadlocks on "crappy" race tracks to get that extra bite. So my thought it that maybe you would still have less mass than a tube/liner setup, but still have the benifit of being able to spin the tire a bit on good race tracks...?

    One of the original reasons for the liners was for safety, in case you blew out a rear tire.
    That is why they were called Safety Liners.
    The advantages of having them are well known. Like the ones Hines mentions in his second post.
    If your car car starts bouncing like a basket ball a liner setup will bounce much less. Try it, put the same amount of air in each type and drop them off your tailgate.
    If you get sideways a liner setup will fold over less and not roll you as easy.
    The liner setup is easier to fine tune with less air mass to heat up and expand with burnouts and sunshine.

    Thanks for the backup support. Just trying to keep my cost down since I have multiple set of beadlock wheels. Mickey Thompson made me put tubes inside there new 10.5 tire with the double beadlock for adrl uses. This is an in between if you can't figure out the liners.
