If you have a RCD angle bracket, Set the inside of the belt on the tip of the arrow, and you are set. That easy. Don

Brian, as what has been mentioned and that is the engine grows after it has heated up. An all aluminum motor grows a lot. With the motor cold torn the motor and blower CCW so all the slack goes into that long section opposite the idler puller and the drivers side. I would guess about an inch deflection on the long side (drivers side) when pushed only with your thumb. Now warm the motor up and let it heat soak after you warmed it up after you have shut it down for about 10-15 minutes. Now that same long stretch on the drivers side should have about a 1/8 to 1/4 deflection when pushed with the thumb only. If too tight or too loose then adjust it with the heat soaked motor so it is correct. Then check it when the motor is stone cold and get the feel of the difference. Use a ruler until you get used to the feel. I like a tight belt on a heat soaked motor. It is hard to explain exactly how tight but this should get you close enough until you get to a track and have somebody who knows to test it and tell you. A loose belt will flop around. I have always had longer life out of a tight belt.

Thanks guys. Hopefully I'll get 'er started tomorrow evening in the shop and start checking and adjusting everything. About all I've got left is mounting an oil gauge on the back of the motor so my crew guys can check it just before I stage, priming the oil, and setting the lash. Haven't heard it run since October, so I'm getting pretty jazzed.

    belt tension

Scouder, we used to break belts every 2 or 3 passes with a screw blower and now we run them as thight as we can get them and haven't broke a belt in over a year. Just my two cents worth. Good Luck. Richard Putz

Yep. Got the stuff yesterday. The tool to hold the crank worked perfectly. I was able to torque the crank bolt easy as can be. The feature to hold the bolts on the side so they are always handy was nice too. Thank you very much. You really need to charge more for your stuff though.

You just couldn't resist the weather jab could you? We are expecting snow again. We are trying to get a new return road at our track, but we keep having to wait for the snow to melt, and then the mud to dry up. Grrrr. While I was at the track a few minutes ago I got my Kestrel out and it showed 40mph wind. The only good thing about it is now all the loose trash at the track is now headed for Kansas. :D
