I have a new alcohol motor that came with dyks top ring and an iron second ring. We do not have the gapless rings. Rings are from c/a.
We run a 540 w/tfx block aj hemi heads 1471 retro hh. 11.5-1 comp. on alcohol. arias pistons. What gap do I need to run. I was told 32 top and 28 2nd. Any help from experiance would be awsome, thanks wfh.

Most dont use gapless ??? Kinda like skinny and heavy women debate but from what i have read most use regular rings of various types and material i was suprised to find that bae told me to use cast rings in my deal but they seem to work fine ??

    rings

I always ran C+A gapless second rings. Old habit's are hard to break. Alot of engine guy's say they don;t really like gapless rings, because it may not let you know when something may be going away. Me , I run them and quite sure I always will. But it is one of those things that you may want to try and decide on your own. Just run a good tension oil ring. Good Luck Don

Most guys run too much end gap and oil ring tension, but this will never get you in trouble. ;)

Some engine builder have gone to the gapless top rings. But that is like comp eliminator and some bracket engines torn down all the time. Almost everyone I know avoids the gapless seconds like the bubonic plague. (At least in the big engine building circles. NASCAR, Sprints, big dollar/fast brackets, etc.) But the blown deal is always a different animal. And most NASCAR or Pro Stock engine builders don't mess with blowers, so they stay seperate worlds.
Too loose is better than too tight. And 4 thou more in the second ring gap is pretty much the standard. Treat the second ring like a secondary oil control, not a secondary compression. That is why everyone is going nuts about the napier second rings. They finally treating the ring like an oil control ring.

I agree with .032 on the top and .028 on the 2nd. If you are running a good blower, though, I would run about .040 on the top and .032 on the 2nd.
