Hey guys a rookie here having trouble with tire spin, shake and stupid behavoir at the shift to high gear. I have a 125" altered with a fiat body, 511 hemi 14-71 HH @ 35%, Powerglide with 1.89 1st, 34.5X17X16 hoosiers @ 5.75 psi and 4.30 rear. no full passes yet. I've only had the car down the track 8 times and now the blur is starting to wear off. this car is a new engine/trans/body/driver combination for this chassis so i have no real data to go on. car leaves straight with a 1.01 average 60' and an average 3.00 330'. i have an rpm activated shifter so i didnt realy have a feel for what was causing the car to jerk left around the 330 but i started to correct the car and stay in it instead of lifting and found i was going into tire shake at or just after the shift. could this be corrected with a wing for added downforce or a timing retard? any suggestions?
    Thanx, Mike

What timing are you running, with what sort of mag.
    Do you have data system
What sort of converter stall/ tightness
    launch style
    What is shift point

We have really great people on ITA but they nearly always ask for these important details so we can help or add our 5 cents worth.

launch at 3000 on the transbrake and 2 step, shift @ 7800 converter is 10" JW tight stall, no data system, no idea as to rpm drop at the shift. i didnt figure the converter stall would make a difference at the shift to high? I dont figure it's a tire problem the car launches great and consistant. You guys dont think the downforce of a wing will aid in traction down track?

Agree with Jim, violent shake at hit is too much power, anything else is under power. Try dropping the tire psi. to 5 lbs, you'll build up wheel speed faster.

beadlocks are liners i have run a very similar car wheel speed is very imporant if the wheel speed is not up and you pull the below its power band its going to shake give it some more balls have you tried driving through it are is it to bad if you cant drive through it i would say its not able to keep it up on the tire and its pulling the motorback (less power ) if you can dirve through the shake try a little more air pressure are a degree timing there are several ways to do this , highspeeds, timing, more blower just dont hop it up so much it blows the tires off at the hit good luck

i have to say i fought that with a power glide back when there was no timing controls i went to a clutch and a 3 speed but now there are a lot of devices to help and a lot of people on here that can help good luck
