Is it typical to put washers under the bolt heads that hold the torque converter to the flexplate?

Are the bolts something specific, or can I use standard grade 8 stuff?

When I took this thing apart I put the torque converter bolts in a safe place so I wouldn't loose them. Now I can't find the flippin' things. Sure as hell, as soon as I finish putting the TC in with different bolts they will show up.

I know what you mean about the missing bolts - strange how they seem to show up later !:) We had problems with converter bolts coming loose. Our solution was 1/2" unf grade 8 bolts, hardened washers with inside chamfer to bolt and nut on other side of converter lug. More than you asked for I know and the simple answer is yes- its a good idea to protect the flexplate and bolt.

    Thanks guys.

Don't have room for the nuts on the backside, but I'll do the rest. I think I have some chamfered washers somewhere (probably sitting next to the converter bolts I can't find).
