Interesting. It should work quite well and make tuning easier, once you've got some experience with it. Would save mucking around with different springs and shims.

    bypass

Ran one years ago on my injected stuff. Worked ok.I think they sell a better one now. Just get yourself a spare diaphragm from Kinsler. You still run a jet in it if you like. Don

    Very Happy with this hi-speed

I have used this type of Kinsler Hi-speed bypass on my unblown injected motors and my blown injected motors for years and I am extremely happy with it's operation and adjustability. :)
I have carried a spare diaphragm with my injector parts for years and have never needed it.
Easy to Adjust and repeatable. Kinsler gives a thumbrule for adjustment that is based on amount of adjustment screw rotation vs pressure change.
I have modified mine by adding a tee between the valve and the jet can with a pressure sensor to monitor exactly when the hi-speed opens.

We run them a lot in injected circle track cars. They take a standard pill in the jet can on the back side of them. Kinsler has a new IRL style that is a better unit then this but it’s also over $300. The one thing we have noticed with these on the flow bench is that sometimes they don’t always close and seal up consistently. Some will close back up at the same pressure every time and yet others will continue to bleed before they seal back up. Probably not an issue in a drag car. One interesting thing we have learned in playing with them on the pump bench is that after they pop off, you don’t really see the fuel pressure continue to climb like you do with a standard pop off. It’s almost like the curve flat lines as opposed to slowly creeping back up. The one place where we see them not near as consistent is when they are used to pop off at a low pressure. As long as your just trying to use them within a normal operating range I would think they would work fine.

I use that exact bypass and it works great for me, I think Don is right, they do sell a better one now.

It works just like a pressure regulator, and your line pressure wont climb much after your pop pressure, if you want it to you can always put a pill in the can.

I would call Kinsler. They were always great to deal with. I always dealt with Marty, but that was years ago. Good luck Don

I did talk to Kinlser and they wanted me to buy the K-140 at about $450. I can never tell if I need it or I'm getting salesmaned:eek:

That's why I was looking for some real life experience with them in motors that were running 150psi or higher. Are you happy with the life of the diaphragm?

My high speed is set at 130psi, and it does open. Ran the same bypass 3 years on a NA motor and one year on a blower motor, still working.

If Marty is no longer there ask for Spike (James Myers) although I think about anyone that answers can help you, they always been great to deal with.
