The pushrod needs to be as long as possible and still have the range of adjustment that you need, for changes in gaskets, etc.

    Adjuster setup

The top of the adjusting screw should be flush with the top of the nut as a start point for any application.

ok i guess you are from reid machine and make the rocker arms,

how much of a problem is it if there are a few threads showing above the nut 2 or 3 threads are visable on my set up will this cause any damage?

    Thanks

    Adjusters

The oil band in the adjuster must align with the oil transfer passage in the rocker body. If the adjuster is is up 3 turns, which is .150" the oil to the ball and cup will be shut off. The result will be heat damage to the push rod cup and adjusting screw and other related engine components. It sounds like you need to remeasure the push rod requirement.

It is true that the longer the push rod the higher the rocker ratio will be with the hardware combination that you have. But the longer the push rod the greater the chance of the push rod cup hitting the back side of the rocker body. If this happens the cup will remove it's self from the tube.

If we can help in any way please call.

    Hi Noel
yes its become plain thet the push rods are longer that we were running befour
You supplied these push rods to the engine builders spec they are your molly taper wall

I wll have a good mesure up and get you to make me some more, im in the UK

The first thing i checked was the oil band and cup to rocker arm clearance
the oil band is about half way closed off but there is still some showing
i was gonna put them in the lathe and relive them a bit for now just to be sure
as i said we are in the UK and we are having our first meeting this weekend
i just got the stuff put together and found the problem
its a points meeting for us so i got to make every effort to go

can i get away with this for a while
i intend to get your tool steel pushrods soon

    cheers
