Mickey Thomson Tires

I'm just wanting some opinions on the M/T 34.5
tires. I've been happy with the set I've run.

 

We've been running the M/T tire since the Vegas National. Have been very happy with it. We ran carrer best numbers at the sonoma div. race.

 

How did Bucky do in testing them in the last week or so?

 

We've been running Hoosier's for 2 seasons now and really like them as they seem to work really well with our set-up. What is different about these M/T's that make them better??? We have heard many good things about them, especially that they are fairly cheap, obviously this can't be the only advantage, so what's different from them to the Hoosier's?

We are looking at the M\T tires for 2004. How much do you have to change the tune-up for the tire? Will it work with a liner or do you have to use bead-locks?

You don't have to change your tune up at all, and the tire was designed to work on a bead lock. 30lbs lighter without tubes and liners, you can mount your own tires, no tubes to deal with. How about that Doug Gordon...5.59, 5.58, 5.58, 5.58...
all on M/T tires!

 

We have gotton excellent results from the M/T tire. We are getting way more laps out of these tires than the Hoosiers. Also, comparing the two tires on the starting line on video, the M/T seems to hold a much better shape.--------Wilson's camera man

 

One of the main reasons we bought M/T tires were
that they were about $60.00 a tire cheaper than Hoosiers.

 

We considered switching to the M/T tire earlier this season. However, from the observations we made of other cars (and we watch as many as we can), it seems as the M/T tire either holds traction or turns loose. The Hoosiers (we run the 4000 series) are forgiving in many different conditions, resulting in few (if any) lost runs do to smoking the tires. I know the M/T sidewall is alittle stiffer, and maybe that explains why. We run the tubeless Hoosier liners (works on American Racing's new wheels), so the weight is about the same as the linerless beadlock set-up.

If a guy was toying with the idea to try a set of Micky's how does the tire pressure vary from the Hoosiers. Lets face it 30lbs is 30lbs

 

Cheaper isn't always better.

 

One of the few times I have bought something cheaper that is actually is better.
