Waste of money or a good thing to do? I wanted to inquire if some of you guys hear have any luck with coating parts like piston skirts, Bearings, Cams, Etc..... Has it extend your engine life? What are the pro's and Con's? I have never done this but I hear all the time how great it is.

Coating of parts has proven out to me to be very cost effective.
We run a AA/FA ( late model ) 5 second car. We have been coating bearings, pistons, valve springs, headers, valve covers, injectors, gears since the late 1980's
We purchased severals sets of rod and main bearings in 1997 and continue to run the same bearings. We do rotate the rod bearings out after each run. After race season I go thru them inspect, clean and send them back for recoating. Some of my bearings have 1992 dates on them. It really saves the crank and makes it easy to read whats going on with the tune up like detoniation. I purchase used springs from the fuel guys send them down and coat them and will only throw 2 or 3 away the whole season. They don't get as hot once they are coated, Also do new springs before you run them.
Call Carl Benton at PolyDyn, ask him to explain different uses. Great guy to talk with, Very helpfull. Tell him Ricky sent ya!

Coating pistons has been worth its weight in GOLD! Ross pistons with their hard coat.

You do not have to do have allow more clereance for the coatings. Call Carl Benton at Polydyn in Houston or go to their website: polydyn.com Their turn around time is also very quick. We found that the extra life added to the parts saved us about 50% in doing the coatings as opposed to not doing.
