A friend of mine has a 40x60 shop and last year they bought a waste oil heater. He will tell you that it was a great move. They run trans fluid through it most of the time which they collect for free. I would highly recomend that you check into one.

    Heat

if you are going to leave it on all the time at a minimum degree the only way i believe is togo is Radiant Heat (over head tube heat) i have a Trucking Company and built a new building 90 x 40 and it is relativley cheap if you leave it on also your floor is warm to where you can lay on it and all your tool's etc. are always warm. i have had oil burners and have also had just the ole Modine blower Furnace. Hey also had coal in the old shop at one time but i would stick with Radiant heat. here is a # for the company i used in Indiana Advanced Radiant Systems (317)57-0337. The guy i talk to is Joe Buffington. this is the guy that also gave me one of those porta- cool fans when i helped Manzo at Indy for free great guy

Hi Dale, your heater sounds like mine, my shop is a little over 40x40 I heat it 24 and 7 at nite I set the stat at 60 and when Iam working there all day mon-fri.its at 75 bill runs $140 but before I put a sh-t load of insulation in the ceiling it was twice as much to heat!! is your place well inslulated? waste oil is great but they are now charging for used oil around here and it would cost me more than natural gas..good luck stay warm:eek:.Dave
