To be technically correct you should use solid core wires,,, but many people successfully use resistance wires. If you have a data collector you will likely be forced to put on resistance wires.

How far can the coil can be away I don't know, but run a wire from the neg of the coil to your cylinder heads no matter how well the ground path appears.;)

My coil is on the rear of the motor plate, probably 6 inches from Mag........I took off a set of Moroso (new) wires and replaced them with MSD wires and it was a new motor!

I've mounted mine to the front of the motor plate right next to the top of the Mag. I'm useing a 44 witht he summerbros drive and didn't want the run too long. Didn't like the back of the front plate as it was too close to the headers.

My question (sorry for the partial hi-jack) where should I mount the points box. on the chasis near the coil or back in the car (passanger area)

ok;;i mounted my coil on motor front plate directly under my mag..now on here was mention about ground wires..
[1]can i run say a 10ga or 8 gauge wire on back of engine head to head then on front of engine run awire from head to neg. side of coil?
[2]what size wire do i need to run to coil?
[3]also i read somewhere on here that the mag itself should be grounded to head..is this correct and if so can i run wire from mag drive base to head and what size?
