With one as tight as 30, check to make sure one rod is not in backwards. Or one cap turned around. Doug

No disrespect meant but this is the kind of thinking that will get you in big trouble. Always double check everything, including rod length. Same with new pistons and everything else you buy. Mistakes happen.

.030" depending on your combination is about right. .120" means something is wrong.

My R&R's are about .080 side clearance, I thought that was alot but they always look good, I dont even get any rod to rod or rod to crank scuffing.

ours was always around .050, plus or minus .005. Also, where are you checking the clearance? always check between the rods, not on the side that touches the crank. Make sure you have enough chamfer on the side of the bearings, I have seen rod bearings not chamfered enough to allow the rod to touch the side of the crank which will give you a tight reading. Sorry for the long post, I also agree, CHECK EVERYTHING!

I check them in between the rods with two sets of feelers. The crank has been fixed and just wondering thanks for all the replys.
