    Never had one before.
Which device do y'all like the best. Do these protect just head and neck or is there a model that partially protects the spine. Been in a wreck before and ended up with a bulged disc and compression fracture.
I know you can't protect against everything just like to keep injuries to a minimun. (and keep momma happy) Thanks.

Call up the guys at Butler Built (they do the lateral head pads and sell the molded seat kits) they are selling the new defender system. That system is reasonably (less the Hans and other systems) and everyone I have talked that has one is really happy with it. I am seeing more and more of the circle track openwheel guys switching to the defender. They are also adjustable so you won’t end up with a unit that is uncomfortable when you’re sitting in the car.

I had a Defender and absolutely hated it. I couldn't get my helmet down all the way and never made a lap with it on. At least they took it back. I think I'm going to try the Hans.

I have the Hans and don't even know i'm wearing it while in the car, just make sure you get the quick release tethers with it or you'll need help taking it off down the other end. A friend of mine has the R3 and he says it's very comfortable in the car, i just hope i never need to actually "use" it....

I use the r-3 hybride and I love it. I sand/mud race and I have rolled twice in the last 2 years with it. I had no back or neck pain at all with the R-3. The rolls were fairly violent as well. Just my 2 cents

I bought the R-3 Pro? and love it. I can get in any car with it and not bring the seat portion. I put it on and sat in the car for an extra minute and never had an issue first time down the track with it.

The r-3 is measured through your chest area to determine size. The other adjustments are very simple as per the instructions.

I've got the same thing and feel safe in it and can't feel it. The only thing I needed to change was going from a standard Stroud Harness latch setup to a cam lock to fit the extra rings that it has to keep your neck straight on a side impact. Worth every cent, about $1100.
