I have seen a couple of rodeck 400 SBC blocks reicently for $500 but have been warned that they may be beat to death in sprint cars. Two questions. They used to be the best block for small blocks or have they been passed by the new darts? I'd really love to loose the weight of My cast dart. Two if the mains are beat out of them could a girdle support them for a blown TD?
    Thanks Steve

    rodeck

It can not be much for 500 bucks expect to pay 2000-2800 for a good used aluminum sb the older rodeck blocks were bad about cracking from cam tunnel down to mains also from outer main bolts to bottom of cylinder bores watch out for the 500.00 dollar ones
    thanks

Just the thought of loosing 100# in a dragster for $500 was great:) but everybody says too good to be true:mad:. They are getting old and now I've been told they were prone to cracking(cam to main).
    Thanks Steve

A $500 block is a bargain - you know if you have a bad block - as in a problem with it - fix it - if your current motor went "bad" do you get a new one - uhh no you fix whats wrong with it. For $500 you likely will need to refurb it or do some welding thats pretty cheap but as most people run a 100,000 mile block in their race car - this is not rocket science - machine shops have been repairing blocks for years. The rodeck has 4 bolt mains on all caps and mine has 6 on the rear main. I have seen a cracked block between two cylinders go clear up to the main - ran just fine - no bearing problems - made 200 passes so far.
I do have a perfect sbc rodeck block for sale - $1950
