They said it was bought 5 years ago and it has Merlin ll actually wrote on the block but ran the numbers off of the block and it says it is a merlin pro.... Can you help me out??????

I have a Merlin Pro block that I bought brand new. I can tell you it has billet splayed mains and dual bolt patterns on the oil pan rail. Mine does not have Merlin II on the block that I have seen.

    Merlin Pro

You have to be careful, the Merlin III block was available with billet splayed caps also. I don't know about the Merlin II. The dead give away on the Merlin Pro is that it has two freeze plugs on the front of the block, one below each water pump hole. I have more info on paper from their website that I printed off a year or so ago when I reseached my Merlin Pro block.

I have owned more Merlin pro's than I can count. I have never seen one with a Merlin II in the casting. But I have seen lots of Merlin II's with Merlin II in the casting.
Every Merlin II I know of does not have as thick of walls as do the pros, and lots of other cool tems missing. Does it have the dual side starter patterns? What is the bore, and the thickness of the remaining wall after said bore?

Well, looks like my plan to buy the merlin pro that I was counting on gettiing didn't go as planned...... The block turned out to be a 9.8 deck height and it won't work for me, I need a 10.2 tall deck....... The individual thought it was a tall deck but evidently not and it probably wasn't even a merlin pro like they said, so I guess I will start looking for a good block to build a blower motor yet again!!!!!!!

    dart race block

a good alternative to merlin pro imo is dart race block.spread pan rail,904 lifters, can make over 700 inches, raised cam.
