    Hi Gang,

I want to connect a switch to one of these dataloggers, but the instruction manual doesn't give any clues as to how it should be wired. The datalogger's cables have three wires and I'm guessing I would use the red (probably +5VDC, may be +12VDC :() as the input to the switch and the green as the signal. My concern is if I do this without knowing for sure, I may destroy the datalogger if it can't accept the voltage coming back in the green wire.

Merry xmas to you all from New Zealand,
    Paul.

    Hi Dave,

It's just a WOT switch, but I also want to send a signal to the DL from the transbrake relay/switch so I can measure the car's reaction vs throttle application. So, the green can accept 5 volts from the red wire via a switch? Do you know if it can accept 12 volts? I could then run a wire from the transbrake relay (or anything else I want to monitor that uses 12 volts) directly into the DL.

    Thanks for your help,
    Paul.

no 12 volts<<<<<<<<<<.and what the wires do is its like a flo meter it takes the 5 volts to power it up and the green and black works like an on /off switch..just remember green is the signal wire. In my opinion I don't think it will work as you are telling me! if you need Doug Lemons # at autometer I can give it to you, he is real cool about making mods to the computer he helped me with a few (strange) things I was doing:confused:..Dave

Ok, no 12 volts. There must be some way of putting a simple on/off signal into these things without letting the smoke out  Yes, please, if you could give me Doug's number I'll give him a call and have a good yak with him. Thanks for your help.
