I am new to blown alcohol motors and need any info available, ignition, oiling system, blower drive, comp. ratio, fuel system. My class rules are very loose (just about anything goes). I purchased a (very) used TFX-92 block #5 is spun and seal groove is damaged. Heads have no brand info just say T/F, dual plug, and 2 nozzle ports behind the intake valve. I also have an KB mag blower intake.
I am trying to keep it cheap until I learn what I am doing in-case I blow something up I won't be out much.

    Thanks,

have never seen TFX and the word cheap used in the same paragraph..........just kidding but my point is that even a blown alcohol motor isnt going to be "cheap" be prepared for that from the start.

Zim, Mitch from AZ. We also have a TFX 92, and have learned lots ablout these ( with still more to go ) If the main cap is damaged beyond repair your stuck with asking for used caps as the arent produced any more. To find more info contact AJPE . They still have side seals for the rear main and try tom stick with felpro main seals. Weve had minor to major rear main leaks and have figured out the system to control it.Remember, alcohol motors are like old Harleys, They leak no matter what!!! AJPE cant also supply you with torgue specs and such. Lots of people have these blocks still and we are actually pleased with ours. Also most TFX 96 Stuff wont work such as front drives , pans and even the front Idler set up is a little different--IF ya need more , just let me know, mabe I can help although were still learnin. This site is a excellent source for info so just ask-somebody knows. Good luck with your venture!! Mitch

    blown alcohol

    Zim, Clif from up north.
When I got into it, I looked at what the most 'common' set-up was being used, so that when it came to parts, help, advice, etc, it would be easier.
With absolutely no disrespect to TFX, I went with the Brad stuff.
Buying brand new, there probably is very little differance in cost, but due to the amount of crews using Brad, it's easier, cheaper, and quicker getting spares & repairs.
In Div 5, most TAD/TAFC runs Brad (Schmekle will come around sooner or later...lol).
Over the years there have been a few trips to the neighbours trailer for a part or two, and vice-versa, because we have been running the same stuff.
The TFX is great stuff, but if your in it for the long haul & are somewhat budget-minded, I'd ensure that you're choice of block / heads / mag / fuel pumps / etc is going to be easy to maintain, repair, interchange, and (at some point) sell / upgrade.
